It's not every day a high school graduate gets a job right out of school.
But this summer, that was the case for Westhill grad Fabio Jamie. Jamie's interned for five weeks with Stamford nonprofit New Neighborhoods, Inc. as part of the Mayor's Youth Employment Program.
"It's been very valuable because I've learned how to be in the professional environment," said Fabio Jamie.
"He did a great job. I was really very impressed," said Ross Burkhardt, president and CEO of NNI.
New Neighborhoods provides housing to low income and moderate income families, the elderly and veterans at affordable rental rates.
"When I started here, I conduced multiple surveys and all those surveys were designed to help the organization improve," said Jamie.
New Neighborhoods took Jamie on as an intern in partnership with Bank of America. The bank sponsored six students this summer at various companies.
Now Jamie will head to Babson College in the fall to study business, with real world skills in hand.
