Engines were started and life jackets secured as 100 Stamford campers got ready for a day at sea.
"Today we're going to go to the ocean, and we're going to have fun," said Justin, a Stamford camper.
"It's going to be a lot of fun," said Joshua, another Stamford camper.
"Even though we have a cloudy day, we're going to have a warm day with the kids," said Frank Kemp, who leads the boat camp event.
Frank Kemp leads the boat outing - which is put together by the Darien Sail and Power Squadron and Person to Person's campership program. The campership program helps send hundreds of children from low-income families in Stamfor to summer camp each year.
Friday morning, twenty boats left from the Noroton Yacht Club into Long Island Sound. For 17 years, boaters have volunteered their own boats. Giving campers a chance to explore.
