Norwalk Hospital has extended its reach into New Canaan.
Thursday the hospital opened an immediate walk-in care center in New Canaan.
"It will provide people with medical attention seven days a week, when their primary care provider is not able to take care of them," said Dr. Michael Marks, MD, MDA and Norwalk Hospital vice president of business development.
"[Say] you have a sore throat and you need a rapid test, we'll be able to get you in," said Dr. Marc Legris, MD and medical director of the new facility.
Marks said the idea is to create a "one stop shop" medical campus. Beside basic walk-in needs, the new facility offers x-ray services and blood drawing.
Marks said the x-rays will be read by pathologists at Norwalk Hospital "on a timely basis."
"Rather than [somebody] having to get in a car and drive to Norwalk, we c can now bring these services to them hear, whether they've just finished work or it's on the weekends," Marks said.
The walk-in center is open seven days a week: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
