When the Stamford Kiwanis Club heard KT Murphy elementary school was in need, they jumped right in. A compressor that powers the school's dental equipment broke, which was a problem since the dental program serves many students.
KT Murphy's school based dental program was opened in 2002. Last year, it treated 180 students.
The Kiwanis Club partnered with the Stamford Dental Society to provide the funding to replace the equipment.
The dental program provides x-rays, cleanings, and second grade sealant services. There are 6 clinics in the city, which served about 8,000 students last year.
