Due to heavy rain in the forecast, milling and paving of the intersection at Water and Washington streets and Stroffolino Bridge scheduled for Tuesday night has been rescheduled.
According to Director of Public Works Hal Alvord, that work will now be done Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3 -- the work will occur at night both days.
Alvord said the roadwork has been on the city's docket since late last summer, but was delayed by Hurricane Sandy, election season and other complications.
"Anybody who has been at that intersection knows its needs work," Alvord said Tuesday. "It's a mess. This will make the road there a lot smoother and, hopefully, a more welcoming entrance into South Norwalk."
Alvord said the work will be done at night in an effort to minimize disruption for merchants and residents in the area, and to avoid traffic complications.
"The work will take most of the night," Alvord said. "Hopefully it won't be too disruptive and we can finish this work that's needed be done for a long time."
