YMCA of Greenwich hosted a training seminars for local First Responders on how to react in an emergency situation with individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder on Tuesday morning.
The seminar was will led by Bill Cannata the founder of Autism Law Enforcement Coalition (ALEC) who designed the educational program. Cannata is a retired Massachusetts firefighter as well as the father of a son with autism.
The morning session was geared toward first responders; firefighters, police and EMS personnel and covered a range of topics.
Canatta will also lead an evening session at the Y geared toward anyone who wishes to learn how to interact in an emergency situation with a person, child or adult, with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
