In Stamford, the city announced a plan to bring a working boatyard back to Stamford. The city has a deal with Building and Land Technology to install a 6-acre boatyard site at 205 Magee Avenue.
The boatyard plan is the linchpin in this deal, which also allows the city to renovate its animal shelter and make way for hedge fund Bridgewater Associates to construct its $750 million headquarters at Harbor Point.
In Norwalk, get ready to spell. The Norwalk Education Foundation is hosting a community spelling bee April 25 at Norwalk Concert Hall. The contest is open to adults and high school students, and funds will go toward Common Core implementation.
And it's a girl in Greenwich. An endangered Rothschild giraffe at the LEO Zoological Conservation Center gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday.
There are less than 700 Rothchild giraffes in the wild. This newborn is just under 6 feet tall and is expected to grow to about 16 feet. The Conservation Center expects two more baby giraffes this summer.
