The Connecticut Department Of Transportation has announced the start date for the Lockwood Lane Bridge replacement will begin May 20, 2013
The Project is being administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and the construction contractor for the work is Rotha Contracting Company, Inc of Avon, CT. The scheduled completion date for the project is November 30, 2013 with a total construction cost of $3,055,349.50.
According to Project Engineer Mary Baker, the project involves replacing the deck of the bridge and its upper span.
Baker said arrangements have been made to limit loud noise work in the demolition of the bridge and its substructure one week in July. Noise monitors will be installed in the neighborhood to ensure the standards are met.
Construction activity will commence on May 13, 2013, with the closing of Lockwood Lane effective on May 20, 2013. The Lockwood Lane Bridge will be closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the project from May 20, 2013 through November 30, 2013. Check the Town website for an update on the exact closure date near the beginning of May.
The following detour will be established:
Traffic wanting to travel northbound on Lockwood Lane shall utilize Lockwood Road west to Riverside Avenue north to East Putnam Avenue (Route 1) east.
Traffic wanting to travel southbound on Lockwood Lane shall utilize East Putnam Avenue (Route 1) west to Riverside Avenue south to Lockwood Road east.
