Even with the recent cancellation of Yahoo! and Best Buy's telecommuting policies, many employees are benefiting from working at home.
Telecommuting, or working outside of the office, is on the rise. A study by the TeleWork Research Network shows it grew by 73 percent between 2005 and 2011 nation-wide.
Leslie Sexer, the Director of Worklife Solutions for Family Centers, says telecommuting inspires productivity. Worklife is a program that provides employee assistance benefits to companies in Lower Fairfield County.
Sexer says telework may encourage employees to work for a company over a long period of time because of its flexible nature. She says it also creates a balance for families, and can make it easier for a new mother to go back to work.
When working from home, Sexer says it’s about staying motivated and organized. But it’s about finding a balance.
