Colorful garments, music, and dance took over the Stamford High School auditorium this Sunday for a Fashion Show of Ethnic Outfits and Native Instruments.
The show was put on by the non-profit group INTAKE, which is short for Instrumentally Native Taking on the Classics. INTAKE is an organization that gives stamford youth access to classical music instruction using native instruments that represent their culture.
The show was a fundraising event for INTAKE, which took off in May of 2011. Forty-seven children and young adults participated, representing Latin American countries, Europe, and the U.S. through music, dance, and fashion.
The show was INTAKE's first major event in Stamford and INTAKE's founder, Angelica Durrell, says there are many more to come.
