On Sunday afternoon, the Union Memorial Church became a place for people to learn about mental illness. Dr. Jeffrey Koffler, a psychiatrist in Stamford, spoke to a group at the church about mental health, a topic that has been on the minds of many since the shooting in Newtown.

Dr. Koffler spoke about stigmas and common misconceptions related to mental illness. He says people often try to hide their problems because they feel ashamed. Dr. Koffler says one in four Americans live with a mental health problem each year, according to the National Institute of mental health.
