Valentine’s Day is about showing you care.  That’s what hundreds in the area are doing this holiday by dancing.

It’s all part of a worldwide movement, encouraging people to take action against violence toward women and girls.  Within the next 24 hrs, people will be dancing around the globe for the same cause.

In Connecticut, 1 in 11 women have survived rape, and nearly 1 in 5 girls have been victims of sexual assault.  Across the planet, one in three women is raped or beaten in her lifetime.

The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center are leading the event, joining over 200 countries.  People in Stamford took to the snow in Latham Park to move for the movement.

For more information on the global event, visit www.onebillionrising.org.
