Reconnecting After Trauma
Officials address issues relating to Newtown

Elected leaders, city officials, and mental health experts gathered Monday night to address the public about issues relating to the Newtown Shooting. The event was put together by the Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut, Stamford Public Schools, and Stamford Youth Services Bureau to reconnect the community and seek solutions to important issues. Speakers at the event focused on the topics of school safety, mental health, and gun violence, issues that have been concerning to the community since the Newtown tragedy. Among the speakers was Congressman Jim Himes, who discussed the importance of gun control.The majority of the night was spent discussing school safety and security. Officials explained what's being done in Stamford schools. At the end of the event, the public had an opportunity to ask questions and visit resource tables with information on the issues discussed.
